I have recently (starting 2024) taken up a position as Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences. Prior to that I was a Lecturer in Psychology at Newcastle University, and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience (ICN, University College London). I obtained my PhD in neuroscience from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL).
With the start of 2024 scientific updates may come to my new group website first: https://www.cbs.mpg.de/psychology/neural-computation. Currently my main research focus is on the neural basis of spatial and episodic memory, spatial navigation, and the involvement of the medial temporal lobe in visual cognition. More broadly, I am also interested in large scale brain modelling, AI, central pattern generators, biologically inspired robotics, and the scientific study of consciousness. I am a physicist by training, and time permitting I moonlight as a writer. My first novel (a satire) is available on Amazon. |
